Malindi is warm and humid year round. The main thing to plan around is rain.

December to March: hot and dry

The peak beach season. Expect sunshine, high temperatures and the busiest hotels around Christmas, New Year and the European winter holidays. Book stays early.

April to June: the long rains

The wettest period, usually heaviest around May. Some hotels close or offer low-season rates. Rain often comes in heavy bursts with sunny spells between.

July to October: cooler and breezy

Drier and a little cooler, with steady sea breezes. A good time for sightseeing, safaris to Tsavo East and the August holiday season.

November: the short rains

Shorter showers, quieter beaches and good value before the December rush.

Marine park trips

Glass-bottom boat and snorkeling trips are run around the tides, so the best time of day changes daily. Tell us your dates and we time the marine park trip for you.
